With just 12 days of the window remaining, the January transfer market is just beginning to hot up.

Indeed, this has been the case across the EFL, with League One no exception.

Clubs up and down the division continue to be linked with transfers on a day to day basis, whether it be them bringing players in, or other clubs looking to take talent off their hands.

With that said, below are all the latest transfer headlines coming out of the third tier.

Sheffield Wednesday suffer blow

After plenty of speculation that it could happen in recent weeks, Sheffield Wednesday officially suffered a blow today.

That is because it has been confirmed that Cardiff City have re-called defender Mark McGuinness from his loan spell at Hillsborough.

The 22-year-old has been excellent for Darren Moore's side down in League One, making 24 appearances in all competitions and establishing himself as a regular at the heart of the Owls defence.

Given the talent he has shown, you can understand why Cardiff are keen to have him back, but it is a big blow to Sheffield Wednesday nevertheless.

Derby eye defensive addition

It's been a relatively quiet window for Derby County so far, but the club are now eyeing a defensive addition, it has been reported.

Indeed, as per Football Insider, the Rams are in discussions with Stoke City over the signing of experienced defender Aden Flint.

Derby were interested in the 33-year-old before he made the move to Stoke this summer.

Flint has made just nine Championship appearances so far this season, and is well down the pecking order at the Bet 365 Stadium.

Watford defender set for loan

Last but not least, after being linked with a host of League One clubs recently, it appears Watford's Mattie Pollock's next loan destination is decided.

Indeed, it appears that the young central defender will be heading to League One outfit Exeter City.

As per Football Insider, the Grecians beat a host of other clubs to his signature, with the final terms of the deal now being finalised.

An official announcement confirming the move is said to be imminent.

21-year-old Pollock previously had a spell in the third tier last season with Cheltenham Town.
