After a quiet start to the week, transfer activity is beginning to ramp up as the days tick by ahead of transfer deadline day on Tuesday.

Clubs at the top and bottom end of League One will be desperately trying to keep hold of their best players in the time that remains, but there are so many variables at play with football transfers that you cannot rule much out until the deadline arrives.

The last few days are always an exciting follow as supporters' hopes for a positive second half to the season appear to hinge on late activity, before games come thick and fast with the window's conclusion fades into insignificance fairly quickly.

Here, we have taken a look at the latest League One transfer news...

Huddersfield Town in for Harvey Knibbs

The Terriers are eyeing a late window move for Cambridge United forward Knibbs, having shown interest in previous transfer periods according to Football Insider.

The 23-year-old has been a bright spark at times in a very difficult season for the U's, whose performance levels have appeared to drop-off significantly since Mark Bonner almost left the club to join Rotherham United.

Huddersfield are three points adrift in the Championship, but with Cardiff City and the Millers' recent runs of form, they will still be believing they can avoid the drop.

Knibbs' contract expires in the summer and therefore the Terriers will feel they have identified some value in the market, but the U's will not offload the forward without significant compensation.

Joe Wollacott attracting Championship loan interest

Joe Wollacott is close to returning to the Charlton Athletic first team picture, after missing out on playing at the World Cup with Ghana due to a finger injury.

Second tier loan interest has come out of the blue, as reported by the South London Press, with doubts over the 26-year-old's chances of returning to being the club's first choice glovesman due to the performances of Ashley Maynard-Brewer since his absence.

Dean Holden has also replaced Ben Garner, who managed Wollacott at Swindon Town last term, in the dugout in SE7 since the former Bristol City keeper's heart-breaking injury.

Owen Beck returns to Liverpool

Beck's season-long loan spell at Bolton Wanderers has not been as successful as that of Conor Bradley, and the two clubs came to a mutual agreement to cut the deal short today.

The 20-year-old only made two league starts for the Trotters, somewhat failing to earn Ian Evatt's trust, and, with that in mind, it was clearly best for both parties if the player returned to his parent club.

Beck's deal at Anfield still has three years to run at the end of the season, and therefore in the short term the club will be reflecting on the decision to send him to The UniBol, and where his next destination will be, with any first team chances appearing extremely unlikely with the Reds.
