Bolton Wanderers chairman Ken Anderson is in talks with two parties over the potential sale of the Championship club.

The news of negotiations came during the live televised game between the Trotters and West Bromwich Albion on Monday evening.

Sky Sports’ commentators noted that Anderson was not in attendance due to his part in talks with two potential buyers for the struggling second-tier outfit.

The news comes amid fan protests before last night’s fixture which had its kick-off delayed due to tennis ball being hurled onto the pitch in protest of how the club is being run under the current owner.

Bolton eventually lost the match 2-0 despite staying in the game late on, but a lack of cutting edge in front of goal meant they were consigned to defeat after Jay Rodriguez’s 19th-minute opener.

Sam Field added a second for the visitors late on to secure the points for Darren Moore’s men.

The verdict

This is positive news if it is to be believed that Bolton’s owner is actively meeting interested parties.

Selling the club would be the best thing for Anderson to do as he quite clearly does not have the necessary funds to continue his involvement with the Championship outfit.

But Bolton fans have heard this all before, and nothing definite has been accomplished.

Anderson being away from the ground on Monday due to the protests makes more sense as

this is a rhetoric that has been churned out once too often for the Wanderers faithful to give any credence to.

I will believe it when news comes out of an agreement, until then, it’s all conjecture.
