Birmingham City could be dealt a blow in their hopes of receiving a sizeable chunk of money from any Jack Butland sale, with potential suitors Bournemouth reportedly switching their attentions.

According to the Birmingham Mail, the Cherries are set to move on from Butland and turn their attentions to Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope, which means that the Blues could miss out on a hefty sell on fee if Butland remains with the Potters.

Butland has been in standout form once again this past season after surprisingly staying on with the club following their relegation from the Premier League in 2017/18.

However, he is expected to once again be at the top of many club's shopping lists heading into the summer, and Birmingham will have been hoping to see their former stopper make a big money move away from the Bet365 Stadium and hand them a considerable pay-off.

Butland, who is still very much in the plans of England manager Gareth Southgate, would no doubt command a fee in the region of around £25-30m after impressing over the course of a number of seasons with some fine displays for the Potters.

The Verdict

This is a blow for Birmingham but one they shouldn't really be banking on given it is out of their hands.

Butland will move eventually, but whether it's for the money that's been mentioned before remains to be seen.

He is a talent though, and unless he goes on a free, the Blues will eventually get their reward you would think.
