Leeds United's new badge caused controversy when it was unveiled last month - within hours a petition was formed to ensure it was never used, and ridicule poured in from all over the internet.

The powers that be at the club listened and said they would review the process and now Leeds Live have revealed the next stage in the process of ensuring that badge never gets onto a kit and finding a suitable replacement.

A shortlist of the potential badges will be drawn up and released next Wednesday so that fans can vote on their favourite to ensure that the new crest is one that the fans actually like and are proud of.

The fans who will be polled are the season ticket holders and club members, presumably to avoid any prospect that the vote will be sabotaged by supporters of rival clubs.

The Verdict

Asking the fans is what the club should have done in the first place but it is good to see that they are doing the right thing better late than never.

The only potential hitch is if all of the potential options are as bad as their initial effort, but surely they can't be...
