Aston Villa's push for the play-offs has hit a snag of late, with a couple of negative results and Tammy Abraham moving away from the club.

The news around Abraham is a massive blow to the Villans, with the Chelsea striker in the form of his life at the moment banging the goals in, and his loss is going to be a bitter blow to the play-off hopes of Dean Smith's men.

Abraham's loss will need to be rectified of course, but with an update coming from the Chelsea camp today regarding the future of a number of their players, we here at FLW think Villa need to be on red alert to snap up another Blues talent.

That player is Danny Drinkwater, who has simply fallen from grace since making his move to the Bridge from title winning Leicester City.

It's probably no fault of his own, but the standard at Chelsea is at another level to that at the King Power Stadium, and Drinkwater has simply struggled to adapt to life as a Blues player.

His future is obviously up for debate, but we think he'd be superb for Aston Villa in the middle of the park if they can pull off a sneaky loan move.

The midfielder will have admirers in the Premier League for sure, but Villa remain a huge club, and he might well fancy the move to a side of Villa's quality and help them push for promotion.

Drinkwater would dominate at his level, and while Villa push for a top six spot in the second half of the campaign, the former Premier League winner could be a superb addition to help them achieve that goal.

Villa fans, what do you think? Good signing? Let us know in the comments!
