Charlton Athletic have entered January transfer window in a much better position in League One than they were a few weeks back.

The Addicks had a difficult start to the League One season, and their inconsistent form eventually saw the dismissal of Ben Garner. However, since Dean Holden was appointed the new manager, Charlton have been on an upward turn.

This January transfer window offers Holden the first chance to make some key changes to his new squad. The Addicks have climbed the table in recent weeks and given themselves a chance of competing for a play off spot.

Therefore, Holden may want to use the remaining two weeks of the window as an opportunity to bring some players through the door and let some fringe players leave.

Here at FLW, we have taken a look at all the latest transfer news regarding Charlton Athletic…

Jayden Stockley

The Charlton forward has now emerged as a possible target for fellow League One side Fleetwood Town.

According to Journalist Alan Nixon, the 29-year-old is available for a transfer in this window and the striker isn’t short of options.

Scott Brown, who is the Fleetwood manager is said to be an admirer of the striker and is looking to add some firepower to his existing options.

So far this season, Stockley has played 24 times for Charlton, managing two goals, and providing two assists in the process.

This is now his third season at the Valley, having previously scored 21 in 55 league appearances before this campaign.

It is believed the 29-year-old is available for a transfer this month as Charlton are willing to listen to offers. Fleetwood are the first team to be credited with an interest, but the report also states that there could be stiff competition.

Stockley still has another 18 months left on his Charlton contract, so there is no rush to sell the striker this month, but it seems his departure is a strong possibility.

Tayo Edun

The League One side are still expected to sign Tayo Edun from Blackburn Rovers, that is according to South London Press reporter Rich Cawley.

It was revealed early last week that the Addicks were closing in on a deal for the left back however, a deal is yet to be finalised.

While Holden remained tight lipped about any possible deal involving the Blackburn defender when he was recently asked.

Edun is able to play as a left-back and in midfield, the 24-year-old signed for Blackburn in the summer of 2021 after impressing in League One for Lincoln City.

While at Ewood Park, he has only managed to feature 28 times in the year-and-a-half he has been at the club, with just one of his eight league appearances this season being from the start.

Now in this latest update, it seems that Charlton remain interested in the defender and a deal still remains on course to be completed.

Xavier Simons

Charlton are one of a number of EFL sides that are interested in signing Xavier Simons on loan from Premier League side Chelsea this month, according to a report from the Evening Standard.

Oxford United, Leyton Orient, and Salford City are also said to be interested in the Chelsea midfielder.

Simons has been on loan at Championship side Hull City in the first half of this season but has struggled for regular game time. He is yet to be recalled by the Blues, but it does seem likely that the 19-year-old moves on one way or another this month.

Simons is a midfielder that looks to play in a deeper role, Chelsea are said to be recalling Harvey Vale from Hull and are also weighing up whether to do the same for Simons.

The midfielder is said to have loan interest as well as permanent interest from a number of sides.
