The Championship transfer merry go round is starting to get into action as teams look to beat the stress of deadline day.

It seems all the Championship clubs will be looking to use these remaining 11 days of the window as an opportunity to improve in certain areas as they look to make a final push towards their targets.

It is likely as we now enter the final stretch that all 24 teams will be looking to get deals over the line sooner than ever, as they want new players fitting into their squads.

Teams at the top will be looking to add that key player who could make a difference between the play offs and promotion, while teams near the bottom will be hoping fresh additions can steer them away from the relegation zone.

Here at FLW, we have looked at some of the transfer news that is going around in the division.

Neil Etheridge

Huddersfield Town are interested in a move for Birmingham City goalkeeper Neil Etheridge, according to a report from Football Insider.

The Terriers are in somewhat of a goalkeeping crisis, as regular number one Lee Nicholls is facing a significant period on the sidelines and boss Mark Fotheringham has now entered the market for a new goalkeeper this month.

Huddersfield were being linked with a move for Middlesbrough goalkeeper Luke Daniels, however it seems the Terriers have now moved on to Etheridge.

It’s been a tough season at Birmingham for Etheridge this season, as the goalkeeper has found himself down the pecking order after being a regular when he first joined the Blues.

The 32-year-old has only featured twice this season, once in the EFL Cup and once in the FA Cup. It seems the former Cardiff City goalie doesn’t feature in the plans of John Eustace, and now it seems Huddersfield could be about to offer him a way out.

Morgan Whittaker

Swansea City have rejected Rangers’ latest transfer offer for Morgan Whittaker.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the offer was around £1.5 million and that has been turned down by the Championship outfit.

According to a recent report from The Sun, Swansea are holding out for a deal worth around £2 million. Whittaker is expected to leave Swansea this month as they look to raise funds for potential transfer incomings.

Whittaker spent the first half of the season on loan at League One side Plymouth Argyle, where he played a key role in helping the team get to the top of the table.

The 22-year-old managed to score nine goals and provide seven assists in his 25 appearances in the league, form that saw his parent club recall him in this transfer window.

Dan Bentley

Bristol City are unlikely to let goalkeeper Dan Bentley leave the club this month, that is according to a report from Bristol World.

Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers and Championship side Stoke City have been credited with an interest in the 29-year-old in the past few weeks.

However, it now looks like both will have to look elsewhere for a new goalkeeper, as this update states that the Robins allowing Stefan Bajic to leave this month will have a significant impact on Bentley’s immediate future.

Bajic’s exit now means Nigel Pearson only has two senior goalkeepers on his books, with Bentley and Max O’Leary as the options.

Bentley lost his regular number one spot at Ashton Gate back in October after a poor run of performances, and since then the 29-year-old has had to play second fiddle to O’Leary.

The third-round FA Cup replay against Swansea City would have normally been an opportunity for the second goalkeeper to impress, but Pearson stuck with O’Leary in goal. It now seems Bentley is going to have to stick around at Bristol City for the rest of the campaign.
