With less than a week remaining of the January transfer window, the clock is ticking for clubs to do business.

Whether competing for automatic promotion, pushing for the play-offs or fighting against relegation, managers from across the division will be keen to bring in reinforcements for the second half of the season.

There is no shortage of rumours and speculation and there are expected to be a number of incomings and outgoings as the window comes to a conclusion.

Here is some of the latest transfer news from the second tier.

Blackburn sign Huddersfield winger

Blackburn Rovers have signed Huddersfield Town winger Sorba Thomas on loan.

Rovers have sealed a loan deal for the Wales international as Jon Dahl Tomasson targets attacking reinforcements after missing out on Crystal Palace's Malcolm Ebiowei to Hull City.

Thomas joined the Terriers from National League side Boreham Wood in January 2021 and enjoyed an excellent season last year, scoring three goals and registering 12 assists as Town reached the play-off final under Carlos Corberan.

The 24-year-old has contributed with six assists for Mark Fotheringham's side this season as they struggle towards the bottom of the table, but he has fallen out of favour in recent weeks and was supposedly keen on a move away.

Coventry win the race for Burnley man

Coventry City have reportedly won the race to sign in-demand Burnley defender Luke McNally on loan.

According to Football Insider, the 23-year-old has completed a medical at the Coventry Building Society Arena and is set to complete a temporary switch until the end of the season.

The Sky Blues faced no shortage of competition for McNally's signature, with journalist Alan Nixon claiming fellow Championship sides Hull City and Blackpool were also interested, while League One promotion chasers Sheffield Wednesday submitted an enquiry to the Clarets, as per The Star.

Mark Robins will be hoping McNally can help tighten up his side's recently leaky defence as he looks to get their play-off push back on track.

Millwall submit second bid for Scottish star

Millwall have reportedly returned with a second approach for Hibernian forward Kevin Nisbet.

According to the BBC, the Lions have tabled a new bid in the region of £2 million including add-ons for the 25-year-old after previously having a £1 million offer rejected.

Nisbet has recently returned from a long-term knee injury and has scored seven goals in seven appearances for the Scottish Premiership outfit.

The Scottish international arrived at Easter Road from Dunfermline Athletic in July 2020, but could now be set for a move south of the border as Hibs consider the Lions' latest proposal.
