West Brom's move to bring in Omari Hutchinson has fallen through, meaning Karlan Grant will not join Swansea City as had been expected.

Albion were expected to be busy on Deadline Day and they did finalise a transfer for Nathaniel Chalobah earlier in the day, whilst it was then confirmed that they were chasing Hutchinson and Leicester City's Marc Albrighton.

Pleasingly for Carlos Corberan, a move for the experienced Foxes wide man did go through before the 11pm deadline but Telegraph reporter John Percy has revealed that Hutchinson won't be joining him at The Hawthorns.

"West Brom are signing Marc Albrighton on loan from Leicester but the proposed deal for Chelsea winger Omari Hutchinson is not happening. Karlan Grant’s move to Swansea off as a result."

It had been reported that the Baggies had seen off competition to land the Chelsea youngster, who has featured against Manchester City for the first-team earlier this month.

The update is sure to be frustrating for Grant as well, as he has struggled to establish himself as a regular under Corberan.

The verdict

Further details are sure to come out in the coming hours as to why this has failed but it's the obvious risk you take when you try to push these deals through so late.

It's a shame for Hutchinson as he would've wanted to get some competitive football under his belt and Grant would've wanted to move to Swansea for more game time.

But, you can understand why Albion have kept hold of the forward as they need a big squad for the run-in and he could still have a part to play.
