Paul Lambert may be facing the sack this summer with his Wolverhampton Wanderers team struggling to get themselves out of a relegation fight, although it was partly the Scotsman's fault as he contributed to getting them into this trouble in the first place.

Wolves, who sit five points above the drop, have endured a difficult campaign in the Championship, although they do have nine more games to change their fate and one in-hand over their closest rivals.

Perhaps it is time that the manager decided to change things up because sticking with the same team and formation in a poor run of form just proves where the problem lies - there is definitely no damage in bringing in one or two players who are willing to put a fight for the good of the club.

There's also crucial matches against fellow relegation candidates as Wolves still have to face; Blackburn Rovers, Bristol City and Nottingham Forest.

It would be ideal for the boss to switch the starting eleven around.

Here are 2 players that Wolves manager Paul Lambert must give another chance to shine...

Joe Mason

Joe Mason hasn't been a popular figure at Molineux with his lack of goals not helping in Wolves' season to this point, having arrived at the club from fellow Championship outfit Cardiff City.

The 25-year-old forward has made 21 appearances for his team this campaign but during those matches he has bagged just four goals.

Mason hasn't played a game for Paul Lambert since the 31st January and that may have given an indication that he's no longer needed, although he could be vital to their run-in for survival.

That is why the manager needs to give him one more chance as nothing bad can come out of it.

Mike Williamson

The veteran defender has struggled with life in the Midlands after undergoing surgery in the early stages of the season and has only just come back into the picture for Paul Lambert.

Mike Williamson originally signed a permanent deal at Wolverhampton Wanderers in January of last year but didn't make a competitive appearance in this season until January in the FA Cup victory over Stoke City, which they won 2-0.

The former Newcastle United centre-back hasn't been as prominent as he would have thought though with just two games since that victory over two months ago.

Lambert needs to allow him more time, not only to help his cause to keep them in the Championship but also because his contract is expiring in the summer and he'll want to extend his stay at Wolves.
