Frank Lampard suffered his first defeat as Derby manager on Saturday, with Leeds United running riot and winning 4-1 on Saturday.

The manner of the defeat will have concerned Lampard, particularly as the Rams weren't great in their opener against Reading either.

Nevertheless, it's still early days and there is a lot of positivity surrounding the club after a productive summer that saw many talented players arrive.

And, some of those fringe players could be given a chance to impress in the Carabao Cup against Oldham tonight.

Should they put in a strong display, it could also give Lampard a selection headache for the weekend game at The Den against Millwall.

Here we look at two players who should be given a chance at Boundary Park to show what they can do...

The forward can operate in various attacking positions and was a real bright spark in pre-season.

He followed that up with a positive cameo against Reading that saw him register an assist for the winners, whilst he also came off the bench against Leeds but the game was over.

Now though, he warrants a start and with his pace, skill and determination he could force his way into the XI for Millwall.

The summer signing arrived at Pride Park with a lot of excitement but still hasn't played as he looks to build up his fitness.

With Martyn Waghorn and Dave Nugent to choose from, Lampard has a lot of options up top so Marriott will have a fight on to win a place in the XI, which often only includes one number nine.

He should get his first minutes off the season at Boundary Park and a positive performance will put him in contention to start on Saturday.
