After a last gasp win in their opening day fixture, Derby were then well beaten by impressive Leeds United at Pride Park on the weekend.

Leeds ran out 4 - 1 winners with a Kemar Roofe double, helping Marcelo Bielsa's side to victory.

Is it fair to say inexperienced boss Frank Lampard showed naivety against Bielsa's side?

We discuss.....

Jay Taylor

Of course, he did.

He looked shellshocked when Leeds but through his Derby side like a hot knife through butter.

Lampard didn’t have a plan b and seemingly had no idea how to halt a rampage Leeds who overrun the Rams side on their own patch.

Being a managerial novice, the former Chelsea midfielder will have seen that defeat as a steep learning curve.

And it is one he needs to learn from as soon as possible if Derby are to bounce back.

Gary Hutchinson

I’m not so sure it was naivety, perhaps inexperience but to describe a player with the illustrious career he has as ‘naïve’ is perhaps a little off the mark.

Leeds were good, very good. Derby were bad, very bad. There’s still a lot of work to do at Pride Park.

If he’s showing any naivety it is across the board, it is in his team selection, his tactical approach and transfer dealings.

It is too early to say conclusively though, one defeat doesn’t make a manager inexperienced or naïve. Let’s take nothing away from Leeds either, they were sensational.

Sam Rourke

It definitely looks that way.

He struggled to adapt to Leeds' high-press, intense style of play and too many times the Rams looks way too open and exposed.

Lampard had no plan B, and will have undoubtedly learnt a lot from this Pride Park hammering.

He must make sure he sets up appropriately against Millwall in their next league outing.

George Dagless

That, and inexperience.

To be fair to Lampard he's new in the game and stuff like this is going to happen.

What's key is how he is going to learn from it as he came up against one of the best in the world in Bielsa.

If he learns, then the result might not be such a bad thing.
