Nottingham Forest have been flying this season under Lamouchi but hit a stumbling block at the weekend as they fell to defeat at Wigan.

One of the Reds' key players this season has been Alfa Semedo before he got injured, with the Portuguese man missing the last five games for the East Midlands side.

Semedo joined Forest in the summer from Benfica on a season-long-loan deal and has made eight appearances so far this term, scoring one goal.

The midfielder has been crucial when he has been involved, giving great balance to the side, playing alongside Ben Watson the on-loan Benfica man is a powerhouse both in attack and defence and can drive Forest forward from deep.

Samba Sow has also been a crucial part of Nottingham Forest’s success and has been solid when called upon, despite his poor discipline record so far, picking up four yellow cards in just nine games.

The Mali international was brought in by the Forest boss in the summer from Dinamo Moscow and looks to have been a very smart piece of business so far.

Sabri Lamouchi spoke with the Nottingham Post and provided an injury update on both players.

“Samba Sow and Alfa Semedo, they need more days - more weeks, maybe - to work with the medical department,” Lamouchi said.

“I hope they will not be out for too long.

“Alfa will be back very soon, I hope, because he is a really important player for us. He has huge potential and we need him.

“Samba is a different injury and maybe he needs more time. It is his hamstring, so it will be a few weeks.

“We need to take care of him because he is also an important player and we don’t want to take a risk.

“It is disappointing, but it gives an opportunity for someone else, like John Bostock, like Tiago Silva, like Ryan Yates, to play in this position.”

The Verdict

Alfa Semedo and Samba Sow have been missed for Nottingham Forest but as Lamouchi said they have quality strength in depth, and they have shown this depth already this season.

While the Reds have been doing well without the pair, they will more than likely be in contention to be back in the side once they both return from injury.
