Sheffield United started the new Championship campaign with disappointing losses to promotion contenders Swansea City and Middlesbrough, with a late strike from youngster Yan Dhanda giving all three points to the Welsh side and a 3-0 thumping from the Yorkshire outfit.

Whilst Chris Wilder’s side did impress at times throughout the opening game, racking up more shots, corners and possession than Graham Potter's team, it was the lack of firepower in front of goal that cost them in the end.

The Blades managed just two shots on target throughout the match, despite their high number of overall shots, raising question marks over their forwards' finishing.

With the experienced McGoldrick and Clarke starting up top at Bramall Lane in the opening fixture, Wilder clearly put his faith in veteran centre forwards. But, it was to no avail, as neither forward found the net.

Wilder started with the same two up top for the Blades trip to the Riverside, where Sheffield United once again totalled more shots than their opponents, without finding the back of the net.

With the likes of Billy Sharp on the side lines to act as an impact substitute, it is no wonder that the Sheffield United faithful have already begun to grow frustrated at their sides attacking options.

The acquisition of Liverpool’s Ben Woodburn gave the Blades excitement coming into the new season, but having played somewhat of a backup role thus far, the 18-year-old Welshman is yet to show his worth.

If Sheffield United are to start finding the net, something needs to change in their attacking set up.

Whether that be new personal bought in on loan in the remaining time left of the loan transfer window, a new formation, or just more work on the training ground, it must be top priority for Chris Wilder.

With just one goal from 28 shots in their opening two fixtures, questions must be asked over the quality of their attacking core, and whether the Blades might just struggle this season if things don’t change drastically.
