With fixture release day just over a week away, the 2018/19 season is being firmly put to bed at clubs up and down the country.
Sides are already deep into their recruitment process with clubs not only signing players, but also being heavily linked with the next big thing. We round-up the very latest news and rumours from League Two.
Grimsby Town have snared former Lincoln City striker Matt Green on a two-year deal following his departure from Salford.
Green, an EFL Trophy winner with the Imps in 2018, joined ambitious Salford in December on a two-and-a-half year deal but has chosen to return to Lincolnshire for family reasons.
Green has also represented Birmingham City and Mansfield amongst a host of other sides.
The Oxford City striker is attracting lots of attention, with both Exeter City and Stevenage thought to be interested in his signature.
National League South side Oxford are trying to hold on to the former Boston man, who rose to prominence in the FA Cup this season with a hat trick against Tranmere Rovers.
He’s also on the radar of Oxford United, with the League Two sides perhaps able to offer first team football. It’s not the first time the Grecians have expressed an interest, they were heavily linked with a swoop earlier in the season.
The Grecians missed out on a play-off spot on the final day of the season as they struggled to overcome Forest Green Rovers.
Huddersfield Town look likely to beat Leeds United to the signature of impressive midfielder Reece Brown.
The Forest Green man had a super season for Forest Green, playing just behind the front man and chipping in with goals and assists.
He looks likely to leave the New Lawn and it’s Championship new boys Huddersfield now at the head of the queue for the former Birmingham City prospect.
Newport County have moved to strengthen following their play-off final defeat at the hands of Tranmere Rovers. They’ve drafted in former West Brom defender Kyle Howkins as they aim to go one better this season.
Having lost loan star Regan Poole in the summer they needed to bring reinforcements in at the back. Howkins, who has previously been on loan with Port Vale, Cambridge United, Mansfield and Kidderminster, will certainly add value.
He’s 6ft 5in tall and should be aerially dominant for the Exiles next season.
