Coventry's Junior Brown may stay at Scunthorpe United on loan past the January window as Irons boss Paul Hurst looks to extend his stay.

The full-back played 22 times for the Sky Blues last season during an injury hit campaign and soon found himself playing second fiddle to emerging star Brandon Mason.

Coventry are going well so far this season and Mark Robins has established a settled squad that he seems to be able to trust and this could potentially be disrupted should Brown come back into the fold in January.

Paul Hurst spoke to BBC Radio Humberside  (quotes sourced from Coventry Live) about a potential loan extension.

"Junior has done well, which doesn’t surprise me having worked with him before.

"The only question mark there is was with his injury he had and whether he was going to be able to play the games.

“I think he has shown he has got better with games. He hadn’t played too many at Coventry, certainly not at first team level.

"[Keeping him] is something we will look at but, ultimately, when he is not your player, that is the difficulty.'

 The Verdict

Brown has had his fair share of injuries especially over the last season and his current loan spell with Scunthorpe is a positive move for both clubs and also the player himself.

Robins will be keen for the full-back to regain his fitness out on loan and as he already has a quality player in Brandon Mason in that positionm so he will be keen to continue giving game time to him.

Coventry City will be hoping to make the play-offs this season and improve on their final position of eighth last season, if they manage to gain promotion then Brown may be an important squad member to have at the club next season.
