L1 Round-up: Sunderland see 29-year-old exit, Ipswich close in on double deal

With less than five days to go until the start of the season, plenty of fans across the country will be eagerly awaiting news of incoming players.

That’s probably the case for 25% of League One clubs, with many squads still looking very short on new signings. We begin our round-up of today’s news with one player leaving a side hoping for success this season

Bryan Oviedo

Defender Bryan Oviedo has finally left Sunderland after weeks of speculation, as confirmed by the BBC.

The Costa Rican international joined the Black Cats whilst they were a Premier League club and has endured successive relegations, as well as double Wembley heartbreak last season.

The 29-year-old joins FC Copenhagen, who are three matches away from taking part in the Champions League group stages.

Ipswich Town

It’s been a busy day at Ipswich as they look to move one out and two in.

They’re close to completing loan moves for Millwall’s Tom Elliott and Will Norris from Wolves. Both players have previously represented Cambridge United and will sign season-long loans with the club according to TWTD.

The same source suggests they’re also close to see Poland international Bartosz Bialkowski leave the club. He’s heading the Millwall, also on a season-long loan deal.

Trevor Clarke

Paul Warne’s Rotherham United have handed a three-year deal to Shamrock Rovers defender Trevor Clarke, as reported by the BBC.

He becomes the ninth player through the door this summer as the Millers look to bounce back to the Championship once again after relegation last season.

The 21-year-old made just under appearances for Shamrock during his tenure there, scoring five goals in the process.

Aaron Tshibola

Doncaster Rovers are hoping to add Aaron Tshibola to their ranks after he was given permission to leave Aston Villa for free, as reported by the Daily Mail.

The former Reading man cost the Villans £5m from Reading in 2016, but he’s failed to impress during his time in the Midlands, making just ten outings.

New manager Darren Moore sees Tshibola as just the man to help drive their efforts to achieve promotion next season
