Birmingham City have had a struggle to the start of their Championship season but one man who has shown flashes of his brilliance so far is Krystian Bielik.

The midfielder is currently at the Blues on a loan deal from Derby, with the Rams allowing him to leave on a short-term basis after they were relegated down to League One.

He's managed to feature in only three league games for the club so far but has looked sharp when he has been on the field for the side. Against Preston, he completed more dribbles than anyone else on the field and against Coventry he was arguably one of their best midfielders.

He has proven to be a solid option for John Eustace so far then and has now told the club's official website that he is loving every minute that he gets on the field for his new side and that he is 'always trying to do his best.'

The midfielder has struggled with injuries over the course of his career so far but when he has been available for selection, he has always tended to prove he is up to the task in the centre of the field. For example, he was important to Derby during their last season in the Championship, but could manage only 12 starts and one goal because of being sidelined with various knocks.

Now, having been given the chance to stay in the second tier with Birmingham, he has again only managed three games so far but he has already proven that when he is available to play, he can be a valuable option in the centre of the field - and Bielik himself has admitted that he is enjoying his football.

Speaking to the club's official website then, he said: "I am trying to do my best. Whenever I am on the pitch, I am trying to enjoy it, I am trying to help my teammates, I am trying to play forward. I am trying to get the ball, make things calm and play more football.

"This is my job on the pitch and every time I step out on the pitch, I am trying to be myself. When we don’t have the ball, I am trying to be aggressive, win the second balls, win the tackles to help the team. That is my job, I am a footballer, so that is what I do, but as I say, I am enjoying every single minute on the pitch and I can’t wait for other games."

The Verdict

Krystian Bielik has the makings of a very good and very talented footballer, especially in the Championship.

When he has been able to get onto the field for Derby and now Birmingham, he has proven his mettle in the centre of the field. He has been bright, with good vision and an ability to get a foot in and break up play too. The issue for the midfielder has been to keep fit and to play regular football.

If he could just manage to stay off the sidelines and get a regular run of games in him, there is no reason why he couldn't be one of the best in his position in the league. He showed his potential back when he was at Arsenal and he is still only 24-years-old with the ability to get even better.

The fans of each club that he has played for always tend to take to him as well because of his ability - and if he can just stay in the fold for Birmingham, then they could really benefit from having him in their squad this campaign.
