Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna has revealed that Gassan Ahadme and Greg Leigh have both been training alongside their team-mates this week.

Ahadme sustained a foot injury during the Blues' defeat to Plymouth Argyle in September and has not featured for the club since this particular fixture.

As for Leigh, he has recently been sidelined due to a fracture to his leg.

The defender was expected to be out of action for a considerable period of time as a result of this problem.

However, Leigh is currently ahead of schedule and thus could potentially make his return to action in the not-too-distant future.

After being forced to settle for a point in their recent clashes with Charlton Athletic and Cheltenham Town, Ipswich will be determined to get back to winning ways at St James Park this weekend.

Ahead of this game, McKenna has shared an update on Leigh and Ahadme.

Speaking to TWTD about this duo, the Ipswich boss said: "[Gassan] and Greg joined in with the group on Wednesday, so that was a big positive.

"And, of course, [Gassan] had his birthday on Thursday.

"He trained well on Wednesday and straight away he showed his hunger and his attributes that he's going to hopefully bring to the team, and it's good to have him and Greg back in training."

McKenna later added: "Let's see how their progress comes.

"Of course, this weekend is too soon for either of them to start."

The Verdict

This is an encouraging update for Ipswich as Ahadme and Leigh are clearly making strides in terms of their fitness.

When he is available for selection again, Ahadme will be determined to help the Blues sustain a push for promotion by delivering some impressive attacking displays.

As a result of his injury, the forward has only made three appearances for Ipswich since sealing a move to the club from Burton Albion earlier this year.

Leigh will be able to provide some stiff competition for Leif Davis in the left-back position during the remainder of the campaign.

The defender knows exactly what it takes to compete in this division as he has made 173 League One appearances during his career.
