West Bromwich Albion full-back Kieran Gibbs has been opening up on his life in football, revealing that ex-Arsenal duo Henri Lansbury and Danny Welbeck are his best friends within the game.

Gibbs is currently part of Slaven Bilic’s Baggies squad looking to win promotion back to the Premier League. He’s been at The Hawthorns since August 2017 after cutting ties with boyhood club Arsenal.

Yet, in a recent interview with West Brom’s official website, Gibbs has revealed that two of his former Gunners teammates remain his close friends within the game.

“I would say both Henri Lansbury and Danny Welbeck,” Gibbs responded when quizzed on his best ‘pals’.

“I’ve known Henri since I was about 14 and I’ve known Danny since I was 18."

Lansbury is currently plying his trade with Aston Villa back in the Premier League, but progressed through the Arsenal ranks, making eight appearances for the Gunners.

For Welbeck, he made much more impact at Arsenal after joining the club in 2014. The now-Watford striker made 88 appearances in the Premier League for the North London club, scoring 16 top-flight goals.

Gibbs and Welbeck also rubbed shoulders on the international stage with England.

The Verdict

Gibbs’ roots are at Arsenal and it is little surprise to hear of his close connection with Lansbury.

Welbeck and Gibbs clearly hit it off with both Arsenal and England, which explains their close relationship, despite Welbeck coming through the ranks at Manchester United.
