Barnsley's promotion hopes were dealt an irritating blow with news emerging that top scorer, Kieffer Moore was to be ruled out for the rest of the season on medical advice.

Moore was concussed after colliding with Gillingham's Gabriel Zakuani in early February, and it will be frustrating for both the Tykes and the striker.

The 26-year-old had scored 18 goals this season and Barnsley will have to make do without Moore which will certainly be a difficult task for Daniel Stendel's side.

But Moore has issued a promising update on his fitness on

/Bu1vFiQlRkF/?hl=en">Instagram, as he continues to train to help keep himself fit ahead of next season.

Barnsley have been in excellent form recently and will be hoping they can keep the pressure on league-leaders, Luton Town ahead of a crucial period of the season.

Stendel's side are currently three points adrift of Luton and will fancy their chances at moving to the summit in League One.

The Tykes are next in action when they take on promotion rivals, Sunderland at Oakwell in what is likely to be one of their toughest tests of the season to date.

The Verdict:

This will be an encouraging update for Barnsley supporters.

Moore has been crucial to their promotion bid this season, and his goals have kept the Tykes in the hunt for an immediate return to the Championship.

By the time he's back from injury, I expect Barnsley to be in the Championship, that's for sure.
