Wolverhampton Wanderers are well on course for a Premier League return this season, with Nuno Santo’s men a massive twelve points clear of second-placed Aston Villa with just fifteen games remaining.

The Molineux side have been excellent for much of the season, and it appears only a matter of time before their promotion to the Premier League following a six-year absence is confirmed.

A tough trip awaits this week however, as Santo takes his men to a Preston side in the hunt for a play-off finish.

Defender Ryan Bennett has been in excellent form for Wolves this season, and attributes the club’s recent form to their warm weather training camp in Spain late last month.

“The last few results after the Nottingham Forest game have been really pleasing,” he told the club’s official website.

“We had the trip away to Marbella and have come back from that and won the games we’ve had. It was an important time to get away and the work we got in out there was really good.

“I think it’s shown in the recent performances and results that we’ve had.”

The Verdict

Bennett has been superb at the back for Wolves this season, and has done well to cement his place in the side following the arrival of a plethora of top class players.

Wolves have adopted a formation of three at the back with two wing-backs, with Bennett often partnering Frenchman Willy Boly and Danny Batth in the middle, in a system that has proven dividends for Santo this term.

Saturday’s trip to Preston will be tough, but with the form that the visitors have shown in the past seven months, it would take a brave soul to bet against them.
