Wolves keeper John Ruddy will be seeking a fourth consecutive clean sheet when they take on Ipswich this weekend but the former England goalkeeper admits their fine defensive work is a team effort.

The 1-0 win against Sheffield Wednesday on Friday night meant this Wolves crop had entered the club record books. It was the first time a Wolves team had ever won four successive away games without conceding a goal.

As well as that, it gave the ex-Norwich man his 12th clean sheet in 22 games, the highest number of shutouts in the country. Whilst he was proud of the achievement, Ruddy was quick to praise the contribution of others when speaking to the Express & Star.

"To do that, as a collective. I can't take the credit for an awful lot of that. The lads in front of me have been superb. It's not just the defence – it starts from the front with the intensity from the front lads which is a massive part of it and filters through the team."

"The key thing is you have a manager who sets out how he wants things done and if you're not doing it you won't play.

The Verdict

John Ruddy is very modest here however it's a fair comment. Wolves are barely letting sides have a shot on goal in recent games and the keeper doesn't have much to do.

Although, when he has been called upon the experienced stopper has looked assured. He gives confidence to the defence and has bailed them out on occasions this year with massive performances, with Reading away a standout game.

As a free transfer Ruddy has been a superb bit of business for Wolves and everyone connected to the club will hope the clean sheets continue.
