Wolves continued their remarkable run with a 5-1 thrashing of lowly Bolton on Saturday that ensured they stay four points clear at the top.

Despite the Trotters league position, they went to Molineux boasting a seven game unbeaten run, however Wolves had far too much class for them on the day.

Nuno Spirito Santo’s men were devastating going forward and made it nine goals in two games by full time.

And, speaking to the Express & Star, former Norwich keeper John Ruddy says this talented squad is the best he has played in. “This is the best squad I’ve been involved with, the individual quality of the players, the togetherness of the team – it is superb. The way we are performing on the pitch is there for everyone to see.”

I enjoy watching us. It is really nice. It must be great for the fans to come here week in and week out and see the performances we have been putting in.”

Yet, the former England international was quick to ensure his teammates didn’t get ahead of themselves.

It is brilliant to be involved in (but) there is still a long way to go. We’ve got a tough period coming up.”

The Verdict

John Ruddy has played over 100 games in the Premier League so for him to say this is the best squad he has been involved with is pretty significant.

However, you can’t really disagree with him. Wolves have a squad that are more than capable of playing in the top-

flight now and so many talented players that shouldn't be at this level.

But, they have to maintain this standard over the season and continue to work in order to achieve promotion, otherwise it won’t matter what people have said about them.
