Leo Bonatini has enjoyed a terrific start to life at Wolves and continued that good run with a goal in the 2-0 win against Fulham on Friday.

That took the Brazilian to ten league goals for the season and meant he had scored in six successive Championship fixtures.

Such a feat puts him in great company at Wolves, with journalist Tim Spiers tweeting that only Peter Knowles and Micky Holmes have had such a scoring sequence for the club in the past 55 years.

Should Bonatini net against Reading after the international break, he will equal a post-war record at the club. Only four players have scored in seven games in a row in Wolves' entire history – dating back to 1888. They are; Tom Phillipson, Jack Brodie, Jimmy Murray and Holmes, who was the last to do it in 1987.

That demonstrates how well the on-loan Al-Hilal frontman has settled in at Molineux. Eyebrows were raised at his signing, but he has established himself as a key man for Nuno Espirito Santo.

The striker is also the top scorer in the entire division, with nobody else able to match his ten goals for the season.

The Verdict

What a signing Leo Bonatini has been. He was an unknown to many and deemed a major risk for such a key position, but is on the verge of making history at Wolves.

Full credit to the recruitment team who brought him in, although even they can't have expected this form.

He is an integral part to the Wolves side and even though three points will be the priority at Reading, he surely must have one eye on the records he is closing in on.
