Joe Garner is set to leave Wigan Athletic, according to reputable journalist Alan Nixon.

It has been a dismal start to the season for Wigan, who lost plenty of key players over the course of the summer after entering adminsitration.

The Latics have won only two of their opening 12 games back in League One, and former manager John Sheridan has recently left to become the new boss of Swindon Town.

According to Alan Nixon, striker Joe Garner is now set to leave the DW Stadium, with a move to India seemingly on the cards.

Garner joined Wigan from Ipswich Town in the summer of 2018, and has since scored 17 goals in 75 games for the club.

Garner - who has captained Wigan on a number of occasions this term - has netted seven goals in 14 games across all competitions this season.

The striker is set to be out of contract at the end of the season, but now looks set to seal a move away from the DW Stadium.

The Verdict

This is not what Wigan need at all.

Garner, 32, has been one of few bright sparks for the Latics this season. He's been arguably their biggest goal threat, and he has scored seven goals in 14 games for a struggling side.

Wigan are in dire straits on and off the pitch at the moment, and the last thing they need is their leading goalscorer to depart the club.

It's an interesting move for him.
