West Brom boss Darren Moore won't be rushed into appointing his assistant manager despite the fact pre-season training begins for Albion on Monday.

The fans favourite landed the job last month after an impressive spell in charge towards the end of last season in the Premier League.

Despite the club falling to inevitable relegation, he restored pride by overseeing some excellent results over big teams.

However, Moore is yet to appoint his no.2 although the Express & Star are reporting that he does have someone in mind for that role.

Yet, they state that the 44-year old is happy to bide his time as they look to complete a deal for the man Moore sees as an ideal candidate.

When that is finalised, it will complete the Albion backroom team, with Jimmy Shan promoted to first-team coach, Neil Cutler continuing as goalkeeping coach and Wayne Jacobs continuing on a part-time basis in the backroom team.

They will be expected to lead Albion to promotion this season, a campaign which begins against Bolton Wanderers on August 4.

The Verdict

Given his inexperience as a manager, the role of assistant manager to Moore is going to be very important so it makes sense to be patient to get the right man.

Clearly, he has a target in mind and it's up to the board to back him and ensure they get him who he wants as it could be critical to their season.

Whilst the season is still a long way away it would benefit all at the club to get these sorted ASAP to give everyone more time to understand how they work.
