West Brom manager Darren Moore is weighing up the possibility of including several of Albion's youngsters in the first-team set up next season after they have impressed in pre-season.

The Baggies got off to a winning start as they gear up for life in the Championship with a 3-0 success over Barnet on Saturday.

Yet, the goals came after the more senior players had gone off, with 20-year old Kyle Edwards getting the first with a fine strike.

He, along with Kane Wilson and Jack Fitzwater impressed, with the trio all enjoying successful loan spells last season in the lower leagues. And, Moore thinks those moves were crucial for the players.

"Kyle’s come back for pre-season looking very, very good. His gameplay, his sharpness, his technical ability is very good," he told the Express & Star.

"He’s reaping the rewards of last season. If anyone wants to see what loans can do then look at Kyle. Jack Fitzwater, too. It just goes to show how much you learn by going away and playing football."

They will hope to remain involved as pre-season preparations continue ahead of the Championship season starting on August 4.

The Verdict

West Brom have a lot of exciting young players coming through the academy and fans will be glad to see them getting a chance.

The one positive to relegation is that it should open the door to younger players and Moore seems prepared to give them a chance.

Now it's down to them to maintain their high standards ahead of the new season to give the manager food for thought.
