According to reliable journalist, Phil Hay, Leeds United could be handed a blow ahead of tonight’s clash with Brentford, with Liam Cooper facing a suspension for an apparent stamp.

Cooper made contact with the head of Reece Oxford during the second-half of Leeds’ defeat to Reading on Saturday evening, which went unpunished by referee Keith Stroud, but is now getting reviewed by the FA.

The 25-year old is expected to be charged this afternoon and could face a minimum three-game ban for the offence.

Cooper was deputising for Swedish international Pontus Jansson, who has missed Leeds’ last two league fixtures.

It remains to be seen if Jansson will return to fitness ahead of tonight’s clash with Brentford, and Monk could now be without Cooper for the vital clash in the Sky Bet Championship, leaving Leeds short of options in central defence.

Monk will be boosted by the return of Luke Ayling from suspension, with the right-back comfortable deputising in central defence.
