Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez has said he will decide on the future of striker Aleksandar Mitrovic at the end of the season, following the Serbian’s impressive form on loan at Fulham of late.
In a report by GetWestLondon, the Magpies manager confirmed that he will assess the striker’s situation in May, but conceded that Mitrovic scoring goals and being in form is ‘good for him and us’ in the long term.
The big striker was a late January signing by Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic, and he the manager has been rewarded for taking a punt on the Newcastle man, as the forward has plundered seven goals in six appearances for the Cottagers as they chase down a top two spot in the Championship.
If Fulham can win promotion, then there will be little doubt that Jokanovic will want to make any move for Mitrovic a permanent one in the summer, and Benitez and Newcastle may well be tempted to cash in on the striker, who has had a mixed spell up on Tyneside.
Fulham fans, what do you think? Would you like to see Mitro sign in the summer? Let us know in the comments!
