Swansea City boss Graham Potter has explained that he thinks potential new signing Joel Asoro will bring a lot to his team because of his pace and direct style.

The Welsh side had a bid in the region of £2m accepted for the forward, who is now discussing terms with the Championship side.

And, whilst the former Ostersunds boss didn't want to go into detail about the player with the deal not finalised, he did talk about what he can add to the group.

"He is an exciting player. He is someone we have known for a while and he has high-end quality. He is very, very direct and has extreme pace which we think can help us," he told Wales Online.

The 19-year old was a rare positive for the Black Cats in what was a miserable campaign last season that ultimately ended in relegation.

Asoro made 26 appearances, scoring three goals and has also established himself as a regular in the Sweden U21 side.

The Verdict

This is potentially a very exciting signing for Swansea as Asoro could develop into a great player.

As Potter states, his pace is his main attribute and it's a great quality to have and he is also capable on the ball and runs at defenders.

Now, it will be down to the coaching staff at Swansea to help him develop as a player and he could become a key part of this new-look Swansea side next season.
