Swansea City chairman Trevor Birch has said that Andre Ayew is "highly unlikely" to leave the club this month.

The club held a fan forum last night, and fans had their chance to ask Birch and other key members of the football club anything they wanted.

Birch, who has been at the helm since replacing the long-standing and much-loved Huw Jenkins in March of last year, discussed an array of matters; the future ownership and the potential selling of the of the club, the state of the youth academy and the future of Ayew amongst other things.

The Ghanaian has been in prolific form for the Swans this season. Having spent last term on-loan at Fenerbahce. He's scored ten goals in 26 Championship games so far, including some important ones - he scored the winner at Wigan last time out, meaning his goals alone this season have handed Swansea 12 points.

The 30-year-old has been so good this season that Jose Mourinho at Tottenham has shown an interest - Steve Cooper has slapped an £18 million price tag on Ayew, which looks to have deterred Spurs for now.

Swansea fans can soon rest easy with the transfer window shutting in a week's time, and with Birch stating that the unlikeliness of Ayew's departure this month.

The verdict

It'd be a huge blow for Swansea and Cooper if Ayew departed midway through the season. They've done so well to find themselves in 7th-place as it stands, and in with a shout of the play-offs.

They've recruited really well this month too and if Ayew did head for Spurs, it'd put a huge dent in their promotion credentials.
