Sunderland owner Stewart Donald thanked the club's supporters after they roared the side on to a first win of the season, and suggested it could be a busy few days for the Black Cats in the market.

Jack Ross' men came from behind to secure maximum points on the opening day against Charlton, with Lynden Gooch scoring a 96th minute winner.

The game was played in front of over 31,000 fans and Donald was delighted to see the turnout.

As well as that, he hinted that the club will be looking to secure a few more deals before the transfer deadline for permanent deals, which is Thursday at 5pm.

"Thanks to each and every @SunderlandAFC fan for sticking with us thru the game. You turned out in huge numbers & even when we went behind u were magnificent," the Sunderland Echo reveal he said on twitter.

"We have another busy week ahead!! Long way to go but that support will inspire the team of that there is no doubt."

Sunderland are back in action away at Luton Town on Saturday.

The Verdict

The victory over Charlton will be a huge lift to everyone connected to the club and ensured Ross got off to the perfect start.

However, it also highlighted that the team needs new faces and fans will be delighted that Donald seems to recognise that too.

Now, it's about closing a few more deals before Thursday to give the manager the players he needs to win promotion.
