Sunderland owner Stewart Donald has revealed he hopes the club will have new signings confirmed before the team head out to Portugal for a pre-season training camp.

The Black Cats are expected to be very busy in the coming weeks following a second successive relegation to League One last season.

Big earners will be moved on, whilst Jack Ross will also look to bring in many new players as he looks to build a squad that can bounce back to the second-tier at the first time of asking.

And, the Sunderland Echo reveal how Donald told fans on twitter that arrivals are imminent. "I am hopeful we will sign two players in time for our trip to Portugal but I cannot comment on who sorry."

Hibs midfielder Dyal McGeouch has been a name regularly linked and manager Ross backed up what his chairman said in terms of bringing in new players ahead of what could be a busy few days.

"We’re hopeful there’ll be one more signing in the early part of next week, then maybe we’ll have to wait and see who leaves us or who moves on."

The Verdict

There's going to be a lot of change at Sunderland this summer and the fans will welcome it as the past few years have been unacceptable.

The early signs with Donald and Ross are positive and if they could get the signing of McGeough announced it would be a major coup for the club.

Ross would also like to get players in ahead of the Portugal training camp as it gives him a chance to spend more time with the signings.
