Sheffield Wednesday's Atdhe Nuhiu has revealed that contract talks are progressing nicely after another outstanding display from the striker yesterday.

The target man is our of contract in the summer but has established himself as a key player under Jos Luhukay in recent months and continued his superb form with a hat-trick in the 5-1 thrashing of Norwich City yesterday.

Whilst the Owls have offered him a new deal, the Kosovo international is yet to sign but Nuhiu told the Sheffield Star that further talks are expected this week and reiterated his desire to stay.

"We are in negotiations and I think there will also be negotiations going on this week so let’s see. I cannot say something that I can’t promise. It is going in the right direction."

The 28-year old also called on Wednesday to prove how much they want him to stay at Hillsborough.

"I hope we can find a solution but the club also needs to fight for me and they do it."

Nuhiu's three goals against the Canaries means he has finished the season with seven goals in his last seven games.

The Verdict

Wednesday need to make sure they get Nuhiu signed up as he has been fantastic since Luhukay took over.

He clearly loves playing for the club and the new manager has got the best out of him, so both parties will want a deal to be completed.

From his latest comments, it suggests a deal is getting closer even if there is still work to do but fans will hope for an announcement as soon as possible.
