Sheffield Wednesday will be pleased with their performances from the first-half of this year's league campaign, with Garry Monk's men well in contention for a top-six finish this term.

The Owls are currently sat sixth in the Championship table, and will be confident of retaining their spot in the play-off places for the foreseeable future.

One player that has been hugely impressive in recent weeks for the Owls is Cameron Dawson, who has certainly put supporters' minds at ease after Keiren Westwood picked up an injury earlier this season.

Dawson is out of contract at the end of the season, and it had previously been reported by The Star that Rangers and Derby County were just some of the clubs eyeing a transfer swoop for the goalkeeper.

Speaking in an interview with The Star, Dawson issued an important update on the contract talks that are underway between himself and the Owls.

"We are in dialogue with the club about it (contract) now. I want a quick resolution as much as anyone does."

The shot-stopper went on to admit that he is keen to see a quick solution in the contract talks, which has hinted that he sees his future with Garry Monk's side.

"I like things done. I don't like it when things drag on. Hopefully we will get things done and we can quickly move forward."

Dawson and his Sheffield Wednesday team-mates are next in action on Saturday when they take on Blackburn Rovers at Hillsborough, in what could potentially be a tricky test for Garry Monk's side.

The Verdict:

This is a promising update for Sheffield Wednesday supporters.

Dawson has been really impressive since he came into the starting XI, and he'll be keen to continue that run of form as the season progresses this year.

If he can do that and keep Keiren Westwood out of the team, then I see no reason as to why he can't have a long-term future with Sheffield Wednesday.

The sooner both parties come to an agreement on his future, the better.
