Sheffield Wednesday manager Jos Luhukay revealed that he was fine with Joran Rhodes leaving the club after the striker completed a season-long loan to Norwich City.

The former Blackburn poacher was a big-money signing for the Owls back in 2017 but he has struggled for form at Hillsborough, managing just seven goals in the previous campaign.

That saw him fall down the pecking order under Luhukay and the manager told the Sheffield Star that meant a move was best for all parties.

"Everyone knows the situation with Jordan. He has been here for one and a half years fighting for the position in the first eleven. It has not worked."

"We have also seen in the last months that we have strikers who are in good shape who can make goals and give us assists. It was a decision we made together and everyone is okay with that."

Despite that, the former Gladbach boss praised Rhodes for and his attitude.

"Hopefully Jordan finds his way at Norwich. We hope Jordan plays a lot of games and scores a lot of goals for himself and his new club."

The Verdict

This is a clear message from Luhukay and it's hard to disagree with what he says.

Rhodes hadn't struggled for a few months, he'd basically struggled since he made the move to Wednesday and they do have better options now.

Sometimes it just doesn't work out for players for whatever reason at certain clubs and Rhodes will hope to rediscover his form in East Anglia.
