Sheffield Wednesday boss Tony Pulis believes his side will be at a disadvantage when they take on Stoke City this weekend because of the schedule.

The Owls picked up a good point away at Swansea City last night, whereas the Potters had played over 24 hours earlier, as they were beaten at home by Norwich City.

With the travel taken into consideration, Pulis explained to the Sheffield Star how his players could suffer from the fixture list.

"I don’t know why we’re not having home and then away. Why couldn’t we have played Stoke tonight and then travel to Swansea on Saturday? Why have we got to do Preston and then Swansea?

"We’ve got to travel all the way back, we won’t get back until the early hours Thursday morning and Stoke will have had two extra days rest than us, which I don’t think is fair and I don’t think is right. They should look at it."

Pulis will be hoping to pick up his first win as Owls boss when his former club visit Hillsborough this weekend.

The verdict

You can understand why Pulis is annoyed with the schedule and there's no denying that the extra day or two won't be ideal for the squad.

However, it's something they are used to, so it shouldn't be a problem for the side come 3pm on Saturday.

After a decent point last night, it's important the side start getting some wins on the board as they try and climb the table, although Stoke will be a tough opponent.
