Sheffield United are currently on a tour of Portugal for their pre-season, and finished last night with a 1-0 win over Martimo thanks to a Ched Evans winner.

The Blades, who are looking to build on their impressive 10th place finish following their return to Championship football last year, are being worked hard by manager Chris Wilder, something key midfielder John Fleck was keen to drum home.

Speaking to the Blades' official website over in the Algarve, the Scottish midfield ace spoke vividly - if not a bit tongue in cheek - regarding just how hard the players are working already.

Fleck said that 'every year seems to get more difficult' for him, but said that sessions have been enjoyable as well as hard work. and he appeared in a confident and happy mood.

The former Coventry midfielder, who has been instrumental for the Blades in their last two seasons, also commented on the squad and praised the coaching and physio staff within the club for 'knowing how to work' the players.

United are looking to make a run at the playoffs next season but have been forced into the sale of Welsh midfielder David Brooks, who joined Bournemouth in a £12m deal last month.

Blades fans, what do you think to Fleck's comments? How do you feel about the season ahead? Let us know!
