Sheffield United striker Leon Clarke has insisted that his team should be in and around the playoffs, but admitted if the club do fall short then they will only have themselves to blame.

Speaking to the Sheffield Star before the Blades travelled to Birmingham City today for a crucial game against Garry Monk's relegation threatened Blues, the United striker said his teammates believed they deserved to be in the top six.

“We feel as a group, with the way we’ve played, that we deserve to be in there'. said Clarke.

The striker, who has smashed in 18 goals for the Blades this term and was named in the EFL Team of the Year this week, has been a key man for Chris Wilder ever since hitting a purple patch of form towards the end of last season in League One, and is hoping he can hit the goal trail again in the final three games.

However, Clarke also commented on the club needing to win all three games to give themselves a chance of making the top six.

“It would be amazing if we could get in the play-offs. We’ve got three games left and have to get as many points as we can. We’ve not converted chances in the last few games and there have been lapses at the back, from defenders and attackers. But we can put that right.added Clarke.
