Reading will be looking to this January window as the perfect chance to improve their side and get themselves up the Championship table.

The men from the Madejski Stadium have not had a good campaign and what has compounded it has been the fact that they were so strong last season.

They should take the positives out of that, though, that they can play well in this league and with the right signings they might just be able to finish this season strongly.

Outgoings have been the topic of discussion for Ron Gourlay recently, though, with him being asked about the future of Liam Moore who seems to be one man who could play at a higher level.

As quoted by Get Reading, though, Gourlay has said that if Moore or any other players leaves it will be on the Royals' terms:

"Anybody who leaves the club will be because it's right for the player and right for the club.

"The key thing is we are trying to build the club for the future."

Clearly, then, Gourlay is aware that some players might want to move on to further their careers but he is not going to let that happen to the detriment of the club.

Let's see how he gets the balance right over the coming months, then, and if a bid is lodged for the likes of Moore.

The Verdict

This is good to hear from Gourlay is you're a Reading fan.

Whilst he appreciates the player may want to leave if a transfer comes in, he appears determined to always have the club put first in any situation.
