Les Ferdinand is not interested in leaving QPR to become chairman of the Football Association.

The FA are on the lookout for someone to succeed Greg Clarke after he resigned following a series of controversial remarks that put his position under threat.

And, it had been reported that they saw Ferdinand, who is director of football for the R's, as the 'ideal candidate' because he has experience as an executive to go with his superb playing career.

However, Sky Sports have revealed that the former QPR player has no intention of leaving his current role right now, with his only focus on helping the club in the Championship.

Ferdinand's job for the Londoners is very important as he has been heavily involved in the process when it comes to deciding new managers and also identifying players and making other calls that impact the football side of things.

So, QPR would have been in a very difficult position had he suddenly left given the job he has done over the years.

The verdict

To many outsiders, Ferdinand would seem like the perfect person to succeed Clarke given what he could offer that role but he clearly isn't ready to make that step.

That's understandable as it's taking him away from much of what he does now, which he is clearly enjoying.

For QPR, it's good news as he has been key to outlining a vision for them moving forward and there is still work to be done on reaching the targets the club have set.
