QPR will be hoping for a positive start to the new Championship season, as they look to finish higher than they did in last year's campaign.

They finished 19th in the Championship table last term, in what was a hugely frustrating season for the QPR supporters.

The Hoops have made a number of signings over the summer, as Mark Warburton looks to add some much-needed quality to his team ahead of the new season.

One player that arrived at Loftus Road was defender, Lee Wallace who will be keen to make his mark in the QPR team as soon as possible.

The former Rangers man has been ruled out for much of QPR's pre-season preparations, as he continues his recovery from hip surgery earlier this year.

In an interview with West London Sport, QPR boss, Warburton provided an update on Wallace's recovery, and insists that he is edging closer to returning to action in the near future.

"He had a hip problem that was aggravated in the second week of pre-season.

"It’s been frustrating for him, but he’s a class act and he’s had treatment and I think is very close to coming back now."

QPR get their new league campaign underway with a tricky trip to Stoke City, in what will be a tough test for Warburton's side on the opening day of the season.

The Verdict:

He'll be hoping to return to action at the earliest of opportunities.

I think Wallace can be a key player for QPR next season, and his experience will come in useful both on and off the pitch, that's for sure.

The Hoops needed additional strength in depth in defence, and Wallace will certainly provide them with that heading into the new league campaign.

The sooner he's back, the better.
