Ellis Harrison has stated that he's enjoying playing in a strike partnership with fellow Portsmouth player John Marquis.

The duo have been impressive of late and and were both on the scoresheet in Pompey's 4-1 victory over Southend last Tuesday night.

It's been a tough campaign for Portsmouth so far, and they sit in 13th in the table, although the side have much bigger ambitions as they look to reach the Championship once again.

Kenny Jackett has been under pressure for a number of weeks now, though he'll be hoping this partnership can help push Pompey further up the table.

Harrison has expressed that he's enjoying the playing with Marquis and that he hopes they'll play the next 30-odd games together.

Speaking to the Portsmouth News, Harrison said: "It’s good playing with John and I really enjoy it. We’ve played one-and-a-half games now together and can hopefully play the next 30-odd games together.

"We played together against Crawley (in the EFL Trophy) and I thought it worked well but the manager didn’t seem too keen and then we went on a little run, so we couldn’t moan.

"But now it’s worked – because it worked with John and Pits (Brett Pitman) as well – and hopefully we get a little run."

The Verdict

Portsmouth haven't had a good start to the season, but they're slowly improving more and more and it looks like they may now have a chance of getting back into that top six just like they did last campaign.

It will be interesting to see if Jackett is given even more time, but it's likely that he will after Pompey stuck with him for so long during the run of poor form.

The partnership has all the reason to be successful but it's whether they can carry on scoring and continuing to be the different in Portsmouth's season.
