Portsmouth winger Marcus Harness has stated that he's hoping to get back in the team after admitting to having a dip in form.

Harness had been in terrific form at the start of the campaign after his move from Burton, but since coming back from his injury he hasn't quite recaptured those performances.

In the past four fixtures, Harness hasn't started the games as Kenny Jackett has opted for Ryan Williams and Ronan Curtis as his two wide men.

He did come off the bench on in their last league fixture against Southend, and actually managed to get on the scoresheet. It'll be interesting to see he if he's earned himself a place in the Pompey side for Portsmouth's trip to Rochdale.

Speaking to the Portsmouth News, Harness said: "For whatever reason, I came back and maybe it didn't quite go for me.

"I didn’t think that I was terrible but I wasn’t quite having the same effect on games as I was at the start of the season.

"It’s football and it happens, but hopefully I can get back in the team and show what I can do again because I like to be around the goals and get assists. I’m confident that will come."

The Verdict

He is an excellent winger to watch on his day, and his pace and trickery can at times be far too good for this division. However, every player is guilty of dropping out of form and he's no different, maybe this time out of the team would have done him the world of good.

It's good to see that he's still in determined spirit ahead of the next few fixtures, and that drive will earn him chances in the team in the future.

Harness is something of a creative player and due to his pace and skills he provides a different option for Jackett, that hopefully he'll use in the future.
