Kenny Jackett's Portsmouth side travel to the Memorial Stadium this Saturday to take on Bristol Rovers, where his side aim to continue in the right direction.

Pompey secured an important 1-0 win at Fratton Park on Tuesday night against Lincoln City, which no doubt eased the pressure on the Pompey boss.

John Marquis was on the scoresheet for Portsmouth, in what could prove to be a crucial strike for the 29-year-old, as it was his first time he has found the net since August.

Portsmouth's summer signing Marquis will likely be leading the line against The Gas on Saturday, as it has been revealed by Jackett via the club's official Twitter that it will be likely that Brett Pitman will miss a third game in succession for his side with a groin issue.

Kenny Jackett has also revealed in his pre-match press conference that Oli Hawkins is slowly recovering from his injury, and defender Bryn Morris has undergone surgery, although a timescale has yet to be put on his return.

The Verdict

This is not good news for Portsmouth, as the manager and fans alike did not expect one of their key men in Pitman to be on the sidelines for a sustained period.

It also comes at a time where Portsmouth have scored just 13 goals in their 12 league matches, an average of just over a goal per game.

The news about Hawkins and Morris is not surprising, but will be disappointing nonetheless for Pompey.
