Portsmouth owner Michael Eisner took to Twitter last night to offer his thoughts after Pompey picked up a badly needed win against Southend United in League One on Tuesday night.

Kenny Jackett's side saw off the Shrimpers 4-1 at Fratton Park to lift some of the pressure on their under fire boss and after the match, Eisner was quick to offer his snap verdict on the long-awaited emphatic win.

He wrote simply: "3 points feels good" as the final whistle blew on the south coast.

Eisner had been coming under increasing pressure to take action, with a vocal section of the Portsmouth fans demanding that Jackett be sacked in the middle of games as well as online.

But the American has not wavered in his support for the ex-Millwall and Wolves boss, confirming at a fan event last week that he does not want the club to become synonymous with knee jerk reactions.

The Tuesday night win sees the club rise into 13th place, now just five points outside the race for the top-six with a trip to Harrogate Town in the FA Cup first round awaiting them this weekend.

The verdict

There are probably few men more relieved at last night's result than Michael Eisner.

I am sure he knew that he was taking a sizeable gamble by backing Jackett so vocally last week and he will now be desperately hoping that this win can be the catalyst for them to kick onward and upwards.

They have perfect chance to boost their morale further with a convincing cup win and that is exactly what they should be looking to do.
