Portsmouth CEO Mark Catlin has revealed his fears surrounding the upcoming fixture schedule the club has ahead of them.

Pompey have 14 league fixtures, an FA Cup clash with Arsenal and a Leasing.com Trophy final with Salford City to fulfill within the next 10 weeks - and that comes without progression in the FA Cup.

It has been revealed that their home game against Bristol Rovers on 4th April is to be rescheduled due to their encounter with Salford on 5th April.

Speaking to Portsmouth.co.uk, Catlin said: "The games are really backing up now.

"We will be discussing with the EFL what happens with the Bristol Rovers fixture. We are okay with that one.
"However, should we beat Arsenal then I think it really starts to become a problem. Test your knowledge of Portsmouth with this quiz - Can you get 15 out of 15? "We will have to deal with that, that’s what comes with success. It’s something we must address, not treat as a negative.
"It’s about trying to fit games in before the end of the season. Now we are through to the Leasing.com Trophy final, it becomes an issue if we also beat Arsenal.
"We are okay with Bristol Rovers, anything beyond that and it does start to become an issue about where we are going to fit everything in."

The League One club will also be fearing the international break that is due to take place from March 22nd-31st with the likes of Ronan Curtis, Craig MacGillivray, Marcus Harness, Ross McCrorie and Ryan Williams all being involved within their individual international setups.

The south coast club only have three blank midweeks between now and the end of the season with one being the same week as the Leasing.com Trophy final.

Portsmouth have already played 44 games this season and are ensured now to hit the 60-game mark by the end of the campaign.

The Verdict

Catlin will be working tirelessly across the next few weeks to ensure that the club can solve their looming fixture headache.

It is just about manageable for now but if they see any more progression in the FA Cup, then things will really start to become tricky for the club.

The potential call-ups that their players could receive for the international break is also likely to give manager Kenny Jackett a headache as it may impact upon the squad he has available to him.
