Peterborough Director of Football Barry Fry has stated that Brentford have shown an interest in striker Ivan Toney.
The forward has netted 15 goals in League One so far this season, and is a star player for Peterborough. He is an important part of their current lineup, and if they’re to have a chance at promotion, one would assume Toney has to stay at the club.
Brentford often enjoy developing lower league players, and the Bees seem to be interested in taking another one to the next level.
Fry has expressed that he is not for sale as Brentford won’t bid enough and that will be an important statement for supporters of Peterborough to hear .
Speaking to Peterborough Today, Fry said: “Brentford, like many other Championship club, have shown an interest in Ivan.
“But they won’t bid enough and in any case Ivan is not for sale. We need him to have any chance of promotion.”

Toney has been sensational so far this season and has really lit up League One at different points in the campaign. He’s got pace, good finishing and a lot of technique which makes him one of the best players in the division.
In reality, you probably couldn’t pick a better club for the player to move to in the transfer window. Brentford have a great record of developing players and all you have to do is look at Ollie Watkins and see how well he’s doing for an example.
The Bees will maybe have to wait to bring in the new striker in the summer as they may well have a better chance of affording the sum if they’re in the Premier League or if Peterborough fail to get promoted come the end of the campaign.
